Despite recent annual losses, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is looking to expand its presence on the continent and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

On Tuesday March 2,2021,the Vice President of Ghana,H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia hosted the Secretary General,H.E Mr. Wamkele Keabetswe Mene, and the secretariate of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area in a meeting to deliberate on issues concerning the African Union’s flagship project.
The project which aims to boost intra-African trade by providing a comprehensive and mutually beneficial trade agreement among the member states, covering trade in goods and services, investment, intellectual property rights and competition policy has its headquarters built in Ghana.
Among other things,a discussion was held on the opportunities AFCFTA would offer the continent to prioritize development in Africa such as leveraging digital technology for Pan-African payment settlements via transcontinental payment platforms and mobile interoperability.
